So I finally decided to get round to watching the Global Rallycross 2016 season and these Honda Civic’s look pretty awesome to me, am I alone in thinking this?

No.

They do look good. I wish they along with the Subarus ran in WorldRX though. If you haven’t been watching I would highly suggest you catch up on the WorldRX competition from this year. I personally find it way more entertaining than Global Rallycross. Full live feeds for every event are available on the WorldRX youtub channel.

yeah I’ll get to them once I’m done with the GRC

The final event of the season is next weekend. You should binge watch so that you are caught up by that time :p.

I happen to like the idea of a 600hp AWD Civic.

Yes me too.

Honestly, I’d skip GRC and go straight to World RX. GRC this year has been a parade behind the two Beetles around parking lot circuits. World RX has better cars, better battles, and better tracks.

I’m a little shocked how you kept yourself contained to just 1 word lol

it wont take me long, the weather is crap right now (not much a surprise for ol’ blighty) so no going out, plenty of free time to waste

I don’t want to risk hurting anyone’s feeling by saying I like a Honda.
*hides*

is it not blatantly obvious that you do?

Look, I’m already in hot water with my disdain for Mazda here.

I can’t help but wonder what would happen if cars were required to homologate a car with the same drivetrain type as the series they intend to compete in: AWD Civic AWD Beetle for GRC, RWD Camry for NASCAR. I wish Homologated specials would come back.

Can I join you on the disdain? I’m really not impressed with the NB mx5 to the point I’ve barely had it a month and already lining up a car to replace it

it’s going to get to a point where all cars are ‘awd’ anyway so wont be long but yeah I miss the homologated specials

People around here give Mazda too much credit. They’re probably the worst auto manufacturer to ever come out of Japan, on par with Chrysler in build quality and ergonomics. Toyota is far superior.

saying they’re the worst might be a tad harsh, I would say possibly daihatsu is the worst

Daihatsu is more of a coach-builder than a manufacturer.
EDIT: Totally mixed up Daihatsu and Mitsuoka.

Toyota is superior to most, but... Mitsubishi still exist.

I like them and I think people are too asshurt about car design right now. I think it’s holdover rage from the like 2008-2014 era of car design. Cars coming out right now are clearly a new “era” and they look better. This civic is an example.
Perfect example would be like 2006 Mazda 3 vs 2010 Mazda 3 vs the current car.

They are in a way but it’s the other way around. Like for rally the WRX stuff will never be made but they are taking like the Fiat 124 for the new RWD events and the production WRC still existed.
Basically the top tier of racing is all funny cars now and instead of homologation cars being made instead street cars are being raced in the lower tiers.

The GRC Lites division was pretty good this year. It came down to three drivers fighting for the championship in the final race of the final round.
